Chinwe Odili
Chinwe Odili is a multi-award-winning Senior Structural Engineer and the UK Innovation Lead within the Offshore Structures team at Kent, in the UK Engineering and Consulting business. A Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (MICE), Chinwe brings over six years of specialised experience in structural integrity management within the oil and gas sector.
Her technical expertise spans the development of qualitative risk-based inspection strategies, life extension assessments, anomaly management, inspection planning, and linear structural analysis for both ageing and new offshore structures. She has led the delivery of large, complex scopes of work for key clients operating in the North Sea, delivering tailored solutions to mitigate risks and enhance asset resilience.
In recent years, Chinwe’s international experience has included a secondment to Perth, Australia, where she supported the integrity management of caissons. Her portfolio covers some of the oldest offshore assets in the North Sea and on the Western Australian Shelf, alongside innovative temporary structures used to facilitate foundation installation in Papua New Guinea and Canada.
A passionate advocate for offshore engineering excellence and future talent development, Chinwe is a committed STEM champion and industry mentor, as seen by her strong engagement with the wider industry and government. In 2024, she was awarded the ICE Tony Chapman Medal for best professional review and technical distinction, recognised as one of the UK’s Top 24 Role Models for Global Ethnic Majorities in STEM, awarded BPIC Female Engineer of the Year and Highly Commended engineer at the Engineering Talent Awards and selected to host the prestigious ECI Training & Development Awards.
Chinwe also serves as Chair of the Engineering Industry Training Board’s Innov8 Group, where she leads a team of 13 engineers in delivering national initiatives across STEM outreach, talent attraction and retention, innovation, energy transition, and equity, diversity and inclusion (ED&I) in collaboration with Parliament.
